Fingal County Council Awards Solar Compacting Litter Bin Tender to SolarStreetBin™
PEL Waste Reduction Equipment have commenced installing the SolarStreetBinTM in Fingal County Council. The installation programme follows the award of a tender for the supply of solar powered compacting litter bins and associated information technology run by the Council earlier in 2019.
PEL Waste Reduction Equipment has installed the first consignment of the SolarStreetBinTM and associated BriteBinTM information technology in Howth, Co. Dublin. The installation programme follows on from Fingal County Council’s award of a contract for the supply of solar powered compacting litter bins and associated information technology made by the council earlier in the year.
Fingal County Council has awarded PEL Waste Reduction Equipment a contract to supply the SolarStreetBinTM and BriteBinTM bin-fill and communications technology following a competitive tendering process run in early 2019. The SolarStreetBinTM was chosen by the Council as the most economically advantageous solution from a range of vendors who tendered for the contract. PEL Waste Reduction Equipment will work with Fingal County Council over the term of the contract in supporting the objective of improving the efficiencies of the litter bin emptying service throughout the county.
The SolarStreetBinTM is a solar powered compacting litter bin designed to save on litter collection costs. It is ideal for car parks, for streets, in public parks, outside retail premises or in any location where large volumes of litter are generated. The product is available in 120 Litre, 240 Litre and 360 litre capacities with the litter being held in a wheelie bin or in a bag for those customers requiring this option. The SolarStreetBinTM has internal solar powered compaction system increases the capacity by up to x10 over a normal non-compacting bin. An integrated bin-fill sensor coupled with BriteBinTM communications software allows real-time monitoring of litter levels within the bin and provides visibility of fill-levels across the bin fleet. Typically, the SolarStreetBinTM reduces litter collection visits by up to 90% and leads to a dramatic increase the efficiency of the collections service.
