Tommy Griffith is a successful Co. Mayo based entrepreneur who established PEL Waste Reduction Equipment in his hometown of Balla in 2005. Educated locally at Balla National School, & later at Balla Secondary School, Tommy initially pursued a career in product development & latterly sales within agricultural & electronic industries after attaining his mechanical engineering degree at GMIT, Galway.

This product development experience coupled with hands-on sales knowledge encouraged him to set up his own business. The ability to see the positive in what others considered a problem led to PEL Waste Reduction Equipment’s first product. A conversation with a Letterkenny nightclub owner about the expense & hassle associated with the storage & disposal of waste glass bottles inspired the creation of a glass bottle crusher.

The product portfolio has since evolved to encompass bin compactors & balers targeted at generating significant customer savings on their waste disposal costs. The latest product development is the SolarStreetBinTM – a solar powered IoT compactor litter bin designed to save customers of the total cost of their litter collections.

PEL Waste Reduction Equipment now serves a global customer base via offices in Ireland & the UK and a network of international distributors & is recognized as the leading innovator in the waste reduction industry spearheaded by the patented ‘Jaws’ range of waste glass bottle crushers.
